Definition
This weekly measure of comparable store sales at major retail chains, published by the International Council of Shopping Centers, is related to the general merchandise portion of retail sales. It accounts for roughly 10 percent of total retail sales.  Why Investors Care

Highlights
A burst of cold weather boosted sales of seasonal goods, keeping ICSC-UBS's same-store tally at a strong year-on-year pace of 4.8 percent in the Jan. 20 week (vs. 4.9 percent in the Jan. 13 week). Week-to-week the index inched up 0.1 percent. Redbook's tally, which has been much softer of late, is up at 8:55 a.m. ET.
