Technology shares are higher pre-bell although IBM ( IBM ) has lost early gains in pre-market trade after the company said it has acquired The Now Factory, a privately held provider of analytics software that helps communications service providers (CSPs) deliver better customer experiences and drive new revenue opportunities. The company is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland. The Now Factory will become part of IBM's Software Group.
And, Microsoft's Windows ( MSFT ) platform now claims 9.2% share in the smartphone operating system ( OS ) market in key European markets, Reuters reports. The increase is driven by Nokia's low and mid-range models, Reuters says, citing market research firm Kantar.
The Windows Phone platform reached a market share of over 10% for the first time in France and Britain, with 10.8% and 12% respectively. Nokia, which is selling its mobile phone handset business to Microsoft, has seen its ADRs up more than 2% and near 52 week highs pre-market; MSFT is up 0.5%.
