Report: Larger IPhone 6 May Be Released In September

(RTTNews.com) - Apple is said to be readying production of supersized iPhones, sources have divulged. Suppliers to the company in China are set to begin mass production on the largest iPhone ever next month, insiders tell Bloomberg.

Bloomberg adds that Apple partner Foxconn is looking to hire around 100,000 workers to handle production of the unit, marking the largest hiring spree in China's history. The next-generation iPhone is said to be "rounder and thinner" than current models.

Economic Daily News reported that Foxconn's new workers will create in a 10% boost to the company's iPhone workforce as compared to past production of the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s. The large iPhones will boast screens of 4.7 and 5.5 inches in size, and are reportedly making their way to retailers in September.

Last year, sales of the iPhone generated $91 billion for Apple, a figure that comprised over half of the company's annual revenue.

Apple has not commented on the reports.
