Nearing the halfway mark in today's session, here are the individual equity names with the most call and put buying on optionMONSTER's ActionTracker data system.

H&R Block (HRB): An investor sold about 10,000 November 29 calls for $0.77 and rolled their position to the December 29 calls, which they bought for $1.37. He or she now has an additional month of upside exposure to the shares. HRB fell 0.99 percent to $29.11.

U.S. Airways (LCC): Volume surged in the January 18 calls and the January 20 calls but volume was below open interest in both. It appears a bullish vertical spread was closed profitably, netting $1.35 in the process. LCC fell 1.87 percent to $21.54.

SPDR Materials Fund (XLB): A block of 20,000 June 37 puts were bought for $0.82, followed shortly thereafter by 22,000 January 2015 32s bought for $0.86. The trades were probably the work of one or more big institutional investors looking to hedge broad-market exposure. XLB rose 0.66 percent to $43.89.
