Largest option buying in equities so far
Nearing the halfway mark in today's session, here are the
individual equity names with the most call and put buying on
optionMONSTER's ActionTracker data system.
Williams (WMB): Volume surged in the January 45 calls and the January 50 calls as an investor apparently closed a winning position at the lower strike and rolled it higher. He or she collected a credit of $0.54 in the process and remains exposed to further gains in the pipeline stock. WMB fell 0.57 percent to $37.67.
Barrick Gold (ABX): Some 10,000 January 2015 25 calls were bought for $2.17 and an equal number of January 2015 35 calls were bought for $0.85. The trader was either opening a new bullish call spread or closing a previous call credit spread. Either way, the trade reflects a belief the stock will rebound above $25 over the long run. ABX fell 3.31 percent to $19.27.
Trina Solar (TSL): Some 15,000 June 5 puts were bought for $0.06 to $0.11. Volume was below open interest at the strike, so the investor was probably closing a short position profitably after the stock rallied. TSL rose 10 percent to $7.49.
