Business Service Management ('BSM') solutions provider
BMC Software Inc.
(
BMC
) recently announced that the University of California System has
implemented the BMC Control-M Workload Automation solution in
order to deliver improved information technology (IT) services.
Aided by this new technology from BMC, the University aims to
better handle its workload and manage costs effectively.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
The University of California System manages various campuses and
education centers, which accommodate roughly 234,464 students,
18,896 faculties, and 189,116 staff members (data as of 2011). It
was noticed that within the existing IT systems multiple tools
were often deployed to perform the same task thus compounding
difficulties in scheduling and streamlining jobs. To make the
system work smoothly, especially with respect to proper job
scheduling and efficient workload management, the University
System selected BMC Software's Control-M Workload Automation
suite.
BMC Software's workload automation suite offers a range of
capabilities required to manage traditional job scheduling, batch
service management and workload automation. The solution will
help the University System to gain IT production control through
a single job scheduling solution for all its campuses and
centers. This would ultimately help achieve significant
operational efficiencies.
Last week, the University of Connecticut implemented the BMC
Control-M Workload Automation solution in order to deliver
improved IT services. Aided by this new technology from BMC, the
University aims to better handle its workload and manage costs
effectively.
Foreseeing the demand for its Control-M solution, BMC Software
introduced the next iteration of Control-M (version 8) to include
features like new user interface, simplified tools and higher
throughput. The new solution will accelerate job processing time,
use lesser server space and further optimize costs.
Moreover, it is worth mentioning in this context that the proven
success of BMC's Control-M Workload Automation solution at
various enterprises has fetched recognition from the U.S. IT
research firm
Gartner Inc.
(
IT
). Earlier this year, Gartner positioned the suite in the Leaders
Quadrant of the 2012 "Magic Quadrant for Workload Automation".
Though European concerns persist, we remain positive about BMC's
continuous deal wins and License booking growth in the Enterprise
Service Management segment. We also believe that its intention to
buy back $1.0 billion of common stock will encourage investors.
Currently, BMC Software has a Zacks #2 Rank, implying a
short-term Buy rating.
