Agilent Software Adopted by Millitech - Analyst Blog
Agilent Inc. ( A ) announced that its Electromagnetic Professional (EMPro) and Advanced Design System (ADS) software have been selected by Millitech Inc. for the development of mixers, multipliers and various other passive devices.
Millitech Inc. is a part of Smiths Microwave. It is one of the leading providers of components, sub-assemblies, antennas and systems solutions to the defense and aerospace industry.
Agilent's ADS is an automatic electronic design software system used by designers of RF electronic products such as mobile phones, pagers, wireless networks, satellite communications, navigation and radar systems and high-speed data links.
Taken together, EMPro and ADS can improve performance and accelerate product development with the help of 3-D modeling. The combination of ADS and EMPro software will help Millitech improve the design environment at millimeter-wave frequencies, thereby facilitating more accurate and advanced products.
There is ample room for growth if Agilent plays to its strengths and remains committed to its customers by providing world class, affordable test and measurement solutions. Agilent's testing systems have proved to be effective in the past, enabling it to build a strong position for itself. The electronic measurement segment has been improving over the last few quarters as Agilent's new products have been successful.
Agilent's revenues in the second quarter of 2013 were $1.73 billion, up 3.1% sequentially and flat year over year, just short of the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.74 billion. Its Electronic Measurement segment remained the largest contributor and accounted for 44% of its revenues, up 5.3% sequentially but down 13.2% year over year.
Currently, Agilent Technologies has a Zacks Rank #4 (Sell). Other test equipment companies such as National Instruments Corporation ( NATI ) with a Zacks Rank #1, and Ametek Inc. ( AME ) and On Semiconductor ( ONNN ), both with a Zacks Rank #2 are worth considering at this time.
