India Official: To Set Up INR20 Billion Pharmaceuticals Venture Fund



MUMBAI -(Dow Jones)- India will set up a INR20 billion venture capital fund to finance research and development work in the pharmaceuticals industry, a senior government official said Monday.

The government will set up the fund in partnership with the industry, Devendra Chaudhry, joint secretary in the federal department of pharmaceuticals, told reporters at sidelines of a conference.

The fund will be raised and deployed over the next three years, he added.
