Taiwan Banks' End-October Average NPL Ratio 1.35%
TAIPEI -(Dow Jones)- The average nonperforming loan ratio of Taiwan's banks
dropped to 1.35% at the end of October from 1.38% at the end of September, the
Financial Supervisory Commission said Thursday.
The outstanding loans of Taiwan's 37 banks totaled NT$18.19 trillion at the
end of October, down NT$66.2 billion from the previous month, the financial
regulator said in a statement.
Banks had NT$245.4 billion worth of nonperforming loans at the end of October,
down NT$7.4 billion from NT$252.8 billion at the end of September.
On average, 80.79% of the banks' outstanding loans were covered by provisions
as of October 31, up from 78.61% as of September 30.
