Japan Vice Finance Minister: Support US Strong Dollar Policy
TOKYO -(Dow Jones)- Japanese Senior Vice Finance Minister Yoshihiko Noda said
Thursday that Japan supports the U.S.'s strong dollar policy.
"It is desirable that the currencies should move stably, and that Japan
supports the U.S. strong dollar policy," he told a regular press conference.
Noda added that he isn't in a position to comment on the possibility of the
Japanese authorities intervening to prevent the yen from rising further against
the dollar.
"It's a matter to be taken care of by finance minister (Hirohisa Fujii). I'm
not in a position to comment on that," Noda said.
In Asia on Thursday, the dollar fell to a 14-year low of Y86.29.
At 0726 GMT, the dollar was at Y86.94.
