Taiwan OKs NT$3.99 Trillion For Infrastructure Projects Over 8
Years
TAIPEI -(Dow Jones)- The Taiwan cabinet approved Thursday an eight-year, NT$
3.99 trillion infrastructure development plan involving 12 projects proposed by
President Ma Ying-jeou during his election campaign in 2008.
The government will budget NT$2.79 trillion for the projects, while the
remaining NT$1.2 trillion will come from private investors, the cabinet said in
a statement.
The projects include improvements to the transportation network, upgrading
Taipei international airport and urban renewal.
Premier Wu Den-yih said the projects should also include land development to
generate revenue and ease the burden on government finances, according to the
statement.
