Thai Cabinet Approves Raising Blue Line Rail-Project Costs To
THB52.46 Billion
BANGKOK -(Dow Jones)- Thailand's Cabinet Tuesday approved an upward revision
of the civil work budget for the extension of an electric-rail project, known
locally as the blue line, to THB52.46 billion ($1.58 billion) from the THB48.82
billion previously approved,
An international bidding process for the civil work is expected to kick off
early next year, with the contract expected to be signed in September, Transport
Minister Sophon Zaram said after the weekly Cabinet meeting.
Construction work on the 27-kilometer rail project extension, comprising a
five-kilometer subway and an elevated system, is targeted to be completed by
2016, he said.
