Russia, Kazakhstan Sign Power Grid System Accord - Prime-Tass
MOSCOW -(Dow Jones)- Russia and Kazakhstan have signed an agreement to ensure
parallel operation of the united power grid system of the two countries, Russian
Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko told reporters on Friday, Prime-Tass news agency
reports.
"We have determined commercial terms, volumes of power supplies between the
two counties, their regulation and a mechanism of calculating payments for
transit," he said.
The agreement will help to address the power deficit in Siberia after the
accident at the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydropower plant, Shmatko said.
Kazakhstan will supply an additional 500 megawatts of power to Russia in
connection with the hydropower plant accident, Kazakh President Nursultan
Nazarbayev said in September.
