EU Extends Oracle/Sun Antitrust Review Deadline To Jan 27
BRUSSELS -(Dow Jones)- The European Commission Friday extended its deadline
for deciding on Oracle Corp.'s (ORCL) plan to buy Sun Microsystems Inc. (JAVA)
by six working days to Jan. 27.
U.S. software firm Oracle sought the extension to allow it more time to
respond to the commission's concerns about the merger, the commission said.
The commission earlier this month objected to the merger based on concerns
that it would reduce competition in the database software market.
