Hamid Karzai Sworn In As President Of Afghanistan
KABUL (AFP)--Hamid Karzai has been sworn in for a second five-year term as
Afghanistan's president Thursday.
Karzai, who was named president after a fraud-tainted election on August 20,
took the oath of office at the presidential palace in central Kabul in front of
800 guests, including 300 foreign dignitaries, live images showed.
Guests, including U.S. Secretary of States Hillary Clinton, sat in the
cavernous palace as an honor guard of Afghanistan's security forces stood to
attention outside.
