Mexico's President Sees '10 Infrastructure Investment About
MXN630 Billion
MEXICO CITY -(Dow Jones)- Mexican President Felipe Calderon said Wednesday
that investment in infrastructure projects next year is expected to be around
630 billion pesos ($48.5 billion).
"It's an unprecedented figure that will allow us to continue expanding and
modernizing our infrastructure," Calderon said at an event to open a new stretch
of highway in west central Mexico.
Investment in infrastructure, which has reached 5% of gross domestic product,
includes both public and private investment.
Oscar de Buen, deputy minister for infrastructure at the Communications and
Transport Ministry, said the ministry will have another record budget for
highways in 2010, which will be complemented with private sector investment,
according to a transcript from the presidential press office.
