FTC To Review Intel-AMD Settlement, Says Its Probe OngoingBy Brent Kendall, Of DOW JONES NEWSWIRES WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- The U.S. Federal Trade Commission said Thursday that it will review Intel Corp.'s (INTC) settlement with rival Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) and said its investigation into Intel's practices is ongoing. "Certainly we plan to review the settlement between Intel and AMD in their private litigation," FTC Chairman Jon Leibowitz said. "The FTC has an ongoing independent investigation of Intel's practices so we cannot comment further at this time." Intel and AMD agreed Thursday to settle all of their outstanding legal complaints, with Intel paying AMD $1.25 billion and agreeing to abide by a set of rules for how it conducts its business. The agreement, which also includes a renewed five-year cross-license agreement, comes as Intel faces an increasing amount of scrutiny from government regulators regarding alleged anticompetitive practices in how it sells its computer processor chips. -By Brent Kendall, Dow Jones Newswires; 202-862-9222; brent.kendall@ dowjones.com (Jerry A.
