Argentina Securities Commission President Sacked - ReportBUENOS AIRES -(Dow Jones)- Argentina's Economy Minister Amado Boudou on Wednesday sacked the head of the Argentine securities commission, as he looks to shake up the organization to strengthen local capital markets, local press reported Thursday. "I asked for [Eduardo] Hecker's resignation," said Boudou as quoted by La Nacion newspaper. "We have to make changes in the Nacional Securities Commission," Boudou said. "We think that we have to strengthen capital markets and we need creative measures," Boudou said. A spokesman for Boudou wasn't able to comment for this report. A number of press reports on Thursday reported that Guillermo Moreno, a controversial secretary within the Economy Ministry, was behind Hecker's dismissal, and that the economy minister's comments sought to draw attention away from that matter. The minister rejected those reports. "They always link Moreno to all the changes, but he has nothing to do with the securities commission, it's an organization which has to become more active," Boudou said, cited by La Nacion. -By Matthew Cowley, Dow Jones Newswires; +54 11 4103 6740; matthew.cowley@ dowjones.com (END) Dow Jones Newswires 11-12-090855ET Copyright (c) 2009 Dow Jones & Company, Inc. |
