Indonesia Minister:Undecided Whether To Hike Electricity TariffJAKARTA -(Dow Jones)- The Indonesian government hasn't decided whether to increase the electricity tariff next year on concerns that a hike could hurt purchasing power, a minister said Tuesday. "The government will be careful as we need to consider household purchasing power," Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Darwin Zahedy Saleh told reporters. Talks are abound that the government may increase the tariff next year to cut the subsidy burden in its budget. A hike in electricity costs will help stoke inflation, analysts say. -By Jakarta Bureau; Dow Jones Newswires; 62-21 39831277; I-Made.Sentana@ dowjones.com (END) Dow Jones Newswires 11-10-090326ET Copyright (c) 2009 Dow Jones & Company, Inc. |
