Philippine Lower House Approves PHP1.541 Trillion Budget For 2010
MANILA -(Dow Jones)- The Philippine House of Representatives said Tuesday that
it has approved a proposed PHP1.541 trillion ($32.8 billion) budget for 2010.
The country's 2010 budget is 8% higher than this year's approved budget of
PHP1.426 trillion due to an expected increase in spending following massive
infrastructure damage wrought by recent typhoons.
The Senate needs to approve its own version of the proposed budget before it
is taken up by a bicameral committee, which will then endorse it for final
approval by the President.
