India Regulator: Small Firms Can List On Existing Exchanges

MUMBAI -(Dow Jones)- India's capital market regulator Monday allowed small and medium companies to list on existing stock exchanges, eliminating the need to set up a separate platform for these firms.

"We want to basically promote smaller entities to come on to this exchange," Securities and Exchange Board of India Chairman C.B. Bhave said at a news conference.

The regulator was earlier mulling setting up of a separate exchange for small companies.
