EDF,Constellation Energy Finalize Deal Creating Common Company
PARIS -(Dow Jones)- Utility Electricite de France SA (EDF.FR) and its U.S.
nuclear partner Constellation Energy Group Inc. (CEG) have finalized a deal for
EDF to own 49.99% of Constellation's U.S. nuclear assets, the two companies said
Friday.
EDF and Constellation now plan to build new nuclear reactors in the U.S. in
partnership.
"The closing of this operation has now been carried out," the companies said
in a joint filing with France's market regulator.
Constellation struck the deal with EDF in December in an effort to remain a
publicly traded company.
"EDF has completed its investment in Constellation Energy Nuclear Group, which
is structured as a new joint venture," the companies said in a separate, e-
mailed statement.
"With the close of the transaction, the companies look forward to working
together to deliver the expected economic, environmental and clean energy
benefits created by the joint venture," they added.
