News Corp Launches New Italian Free-To-Air Channel, CieloMILAN -(Dow Jones)- News Corp. (NWS) Friday said it is launching a new free- to-air television channel from Dec. 1 called Cielo in another sign that competition in Italy's once-staid television market is heating up. The channel will be available on Italy's digital broadcasting platform, and " will benefit from the experience and infrastructure of Sky Italia, News Corp's Italian pay television channel, the media conglomerate said in a statement. Gary Davey, currently the chief operating officer of News Corporation Stations Europe, will be the general manager of Cielo.
