De Facto Honduras President Organizes Own Unity Government
TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras (AFP)--Interim Honduran leader Roberto Micheletti
announced late Thursday a "unity and reconciliation" government without
ministers from ousted President Manuel Zelaya.
"I am proud to announce tonight that we have completed the formation of the
cabinet of unity and reconciliation within the limit laid down in the agreement"
brokered by Costa Rican President Oscar Arias, Micheletti said in his radio and
television statement.
He made the announcement just 10 minutes before the deadline - set at 0600 GMT
Friday - for Zelaya to be restored to power in order to organize a national
unity government in accordance with an agreement reached last week.
The agreement was a bid to end a months-long political crisis in the wake of
Zelaya's ouster.
