UK Treasury: RMBS Guarantee Scheme To Close Thursday As Planned
LONDON -(Dow Jones)- The U.K. government's scheme to guarantee residential
mortgage-backed securities will end Thursday as planned, a U.K. Treasury
spokesman said Wednesday.
The spokesman said the U.K. government "will keep the market under review and
continue to engage with the industry."
The scheme was launched in April to help support RMBS issuance and the U.K.
mortgage market. The government said the time that guarantees would initially be
available for is six months.
But no U.K. banks have issued RMBS under the guarantee scheme since it was
introduced.
