White House Report To Detail Changes In US Labor Market
WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- A new report by the Obama administration will look at
expected changes in the U.S. job market, including an expansion in health-care
and environmental jobs and an anticipated rebound in the construction sector.
The report, prepared by the White House's Council of Economic Advisers, will
be released Monday, an administration official said.
The report is expected to show that health and environmental-related
occupations are growing at a faster rate than the broader economy, providing
fresh white- and blue-collar job opportunities.
With the U.S. unemployment rate at 9.5%, investors have expressed concerns
about the economy's recovery prospects, and the administration has fought off
criticism that the $787 billion stimulus package hasn't had the hoped-for
impact.
Titled "Preparing the Workers of Today for the Jobs of Tomorrow," the CEA
report will look at the skills likely to be relevant in growing occupations and
ways to best educate and train workers.
