Williams-Sonoma Boosts Forecast as Q2 Profit and Revenue Beat Estimates; Shares Surge After Hours (WSM)

Home goods retailer Williams-Sonoma, Inc. ( WSM ) late Tuesday posted better-than-expected second quarter earnings and lifted its full-year outlook, sending its shares surging higher in aftermarket trading.

The San Francisco-based company reported second quarter net income of $43.4 million, or 43 cents per share, compared with $39.3 million, or 37 cents per share, in the year-ago period.

Revenue rose 7.3% from last year to $874.3 million.

On average, Wall Street analysts expected a smaller profit of 41 cents per share, on lower revenue of $864.35 million.

Looking ahead, WSM boosted its full-year earnings outlook to a range of $2.44 to $2.51 per share, while analysts are looking for $2.50 per share for the year.

Williams-Sonoma shares jumped $3.50, or +9.2%, in after hours trading Tuesday.
