Wall Street is alive! Dow rises after 4-day negative mood

FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - US stocks have closed the week on a positive note after positive 'fiscal cliff' talks bolstering risk appetite. Nevertheless, the overall weekly close was negative in the major indexes.

"Very constructive" talks regarding the US 'fiscal cliff' between President B.Obama and the Congressional leaders have acted as support for the upbeat momentum in the stock markets with the indexes turning back previous losses and posting gains after the Leaders speech.

The Dow Jones has risen 0.37% or 45.85 pts to close the day at 12,588.23, the DJIA fell 1.77% on the week. The S&P 500 advanced 0.48% or 6.55 pts so far today to close at 1,359.88, the S&P declined 1.45% on the week. The Nasdaq composite eased 16.19 pts or 0.57% to finish at 2,853.13, 1.78% dow on the week.
