Credit card issuer Visa Inc (
) on Wednesday reported some bearish consumer spending trends.
The San Francisco-based company said that U.S. aggregate
payments volume fell 3% in April from the year-ago period.
Visa also posted the following April stats:
- U.S. credit payments volume rose 8%.
- Debit payments volume growth fell 12%.
- Excluding currency fluctuations, cross-border volume growth
rose 13% globally.
- Processed transactions fell 1% globally.
Visa shares fell $2.62. or -2.2%, in premarket trading
