Vail Resorts Posts $54 Million Q4 Loss, but Still Beats View (MTN)

Ski resort operator Vail Resorts, Inc. ( MTN ) on Tuesday posted better-than-expected fiscal fourth quarter earnings results, despite a substantial quarterly net loss.

The Broomfield, CO-based company reported a fiscal fourth quarter net loss of $53.79 million, or -$1.50, per share, compared with a loss of $53.91 million, or -$1.49 per share, in the year-ago period.

Revenue rose 4.5% from last year to $113.54 million.

On average, Wall Street analysts expected a worse loss of -$1.56 per share, on smaller revenue of $107.18 million.

Looking ahead, MTN forecast full-year earnings to range from $50 million to $60 million.

Vail Resorts shares rose $1.33, or +2.5%, in premarket trading Tuesday.
