US Stocks closed lower on fiscal cliff disappointing speeches

FXstreet.com (San Francisco) - Wall Street has finished the day with loses after House Speaker John Boehner affirmed that "serious differences" remain between him and President Obama. Investors were nervous on the talks and market lost initial gains.

"The President still has not made an offer that meets the standards, but Republicans have," accused Boehner in a press conference. "It's clear that the President is just not serious about cutting spending, but spending is the problem."

The DJIA lost 74.73 points or 0.56% to close at 13,170.72. The S&P 500 eased 9.03 pts or 0.63% to finish at 1,419.45. And the Nasdaq fell 21.62 points or 0.72% to 2,992.16.
