US leaders invest in “fiscal cliff” meetings as last attempts in 2012

By FXstreet.com December 28, 2012, 04:48:00 AM EDT

FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Despite yesterday's US Senate majority leader Harry Reid's remarks, not much hopeful of an agreement soon and saying it looks like the US is headed over the fiscal cliff, there are already meetings scheduled for the next days, starting even today where the White House will host a meeting between President Obama, Reid, McConnell, Boehner and Pelosi.

On Sunday, the House of Representatives will meet in a previously-unscheduled session. "It is not yet clear what sort of action the House will take, but we can reasonably assume that a Republican-sponsored plan to avert the fiscal cliff will be put to a vote", wrote UBS analyst Gareth Berry, pointing that the Dec 31 meeting could continue until Jan 2.
