US Futures Point to Higher Open Amid Slew of Solid Quarterly Earnings

U.S. stocks were poised to open higher Wednesday as earnings from both late Tuesday and this morning from companies like Apple ( AAPL ), Microsoft ( MSFT ), PepsiCo ( PEP ) and Dow Chemical ( DOW ) largely pleased markets. There were no economic indicators on tap Wednesday.

PEP was higher over 2% before the bell as its Q2 results beat expectations and as it boosted its forecast for 2014 core EPS growth. DAL added nearly 1% as earnings topped views despite a miss on revenue.

Meanwhile, development-stage biopharmaceutical company Puma Biotechnology ( PBYI ) nearly quadrupled in value after announcing positive results from a phase 3 breast cancer drug trial.

At the other end of the spectrum, Juniper Networks (JNPR) fell over 8% as it set a Q3 guidance below the market's expectations. Xilinx (XLNX) suffered the same fate, dropping over 13% as it warned of a continued decline in revenue.
