US Futures Near Unchanged But Poised For Quarterly Gain; Shortened Trading Week Sees Slew Of Data

U.S. stock futures were mixed Monday, although near unchanged, but headed for another quarterly gain at the start of a week that will deliver a slew of economic data. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 futures were slightly down while the Nasdaq 100 was slightly higher.

In economic data out today, the Chicago PMI for June, out at 09:45 a.m. E.T., is expected to have edged down to 64.0 from 65.5 in May. At 10:00 a.m., the Pending Home Sales index is seen having gained 1% in May from a 0.4% gain in April.

This week will see reports on manufacturing, construction spending, factory orders and then the June employment report, which will be out Thursday instead of Friday, due to the public holiday. It is expected to show the economy added 211,000 jobs, down from 217,000 in May.


In equities, MannKind ( MNKD ) was higher by nearly 13% in recent pre-market trade after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved its Afrezza inhalation power to treat Diabetes.

Meanwhile, many banks were trading lower amid reports that French bank BNP Paribas will pay a $9 billion fine to the U.S. Justice Department over alleged sanctions violations. Deutsche Bank ( DB ) was lower 1.3%, UBS ( UBS ) was down 0.2%, Barclays ( BCS ) shed 1.2% and Wells Fargo ( WFC ) was down 0.6%.
