U.S. ECONOMICS: Plosser Wants to See End to QE "Sooner Rather Than Later"

By

Speaking at the University of Delaware this morning, Charles Plosser reiterated his preference for taper to have begun earlier and more "expeditiously", and would ultimately like to see QE end "sooner rather than later" in a manner "commensurate with an improving economy."

According to Plosser, that would mean a more aggressive tapering since the economy has "met the criteria for ending asset purchases" including labor market conditions.

Plosser is a voting member of the FOMC and one of the more hawkish members of the board.
