UPDATE: Xcel Energy's Q2 Beats Forecasts; Maintains FY12 EPS Guidance - Shares Down 1.6%, Were Near Yr Highs Earlier

Xcel Energy ( XEL ) is down 1.6% at $28.77 on volume of 1.1 million vs 30-day avg of 2.56 mln after the company today reported Q2 earnings of $0.38 per share, compared with the Capital IQ consensus of $0.35. Revenues were $2.27 bln, down 6.7% year-over-year. Analysts were expecting revenues of $2.47 bln.

The company still expects FY12 EPS in the lower half of its guidance range of $1.75 - $1.85. Analysts are looking for $1.77 EPS.

Shares are off a day's high of $29.61, which was near the 52-week high of $29.92. Shares have increased 22.3% in the last 12 months.
