Update: Top unusual option activity

As of today's close, here are the top 10 names showing unusual option activity on tradeMONSTER's LiveAction data system.

HCA Holdings (HCA): Option volume 3,130 percent above average. There was heavy selling in the March 25 puts and buying in the December 30 calls. HCA fell 19 percent to $27.97.

Raptor Pharmaceutical (RPTP): Option volume 2,760 percent above average. Investors sold about 4,000 November 5 calls, looking for the stock to hold its ground or drop. RPTP fell 28 percent to $5.

Hasbro (HAS): Option volume 1,747 percent above average. Investors bought about 8,000 January 45 calls for $0.92 to $1.05, looking for upside. HAS fell 0.20 percent to $40.42.
BioDelivery Sciences (BDSI): Option volume 1,453 percent above average. Approximately 4,000 September 5 calls were bought for $0.38 against existing open interest. BDSI rose 1.53 percent to $3.97.

Vanguard REIT (VNQ): Option volume 1,363 percent above average. A block of 1,885 September 65 calls was sold for $0.70. VNQ fell 0.93 percent to $62.59.

  • Marathon Petroleum (MPC): Option volume 1,318 percent above average.
  • Silicon Laboratories (SLAB): Option volume 1,314 percent above average.
  • Varian Semiconductor Equipment (VSEA): Option volume 1,098 percent above average.
  • Liberty Media (LINTA): Option volume 1,046 percent above average.
  • FormFactor (FORM): Option volume 1,019 percent above average.
