Update: Top unusual option activity


As of today's close, here are the top 10 names showing unusual option activity on tradeMONSTER's LiveAction data system.

HJ Heinz (HNZ): Options volume 3,031 percent above average. Call volume activity surged as investors looked to reap the company's cash dividend. Similar trades occurred in Canadian Pacific Railway (CP), where options volume was 2,859 percent above average, and Iron Mountain (IRM), where options volume was 2,553 percent above average.

Leggett & Platt (LEG): Options volume 2,125 percent above average. Investors bought the September 25 calls and sold the September 22.50 puts, looking for the industrial company to rally. LEG rose 0.30 percent to $23.71.

Louisiana Pacific (LPX): Options volume 1,708 percent above average. Investors bought about 25,000 November 10 calls for $0.25, looking for the lumber stock to rally. LPX rose 4.03 percent to $8.01.

  • iShares iBoxx High Yield Corporate Bond Fund (HYG): Options volume 1,166 percent above average.
