As of today's close, here are the top 10 names showing unusual option activity on tradeMONSTER's LiveAction data system.

Auxilium Pharmaceuticals (AUXL): Option volume 1,842 percent above average. Investors purchased 5,000 September 22.50 calls, mostly for $0.50, looking for upside. AUXL fell 0.52 percent to $19.12.

NCR (NCR): Option volume 1,338 percent above average. Investors bought about 3,000 August 20 calls for $0.35, looking for upside. NCR fell 0.92 percent to $18.23.

Pharmacylics (PCYC): Option volume 1,058 percent above average. Investors sold the November 6 puts, the November 9 puts and the August 7 puts looking for the stock to hold its ground or push higher. PCYC rose 8.48 percent to $10.11.

Finish Line (FINL): Option volume 972 percent above average. Investors bought and sold calls after first-quarter sales missed estimates. FINL dropped 7.90 percent to $21.34.

Equity Residential (EQR): Option volume 953 percent above average. An investor sold 5,000 August 60 puts for $3 and 5,000 August 60 calls for $1.35, looking for the stock to remain in a range. EQR fell 0.17 percent to $58.36.
