Tuesday Sector Laggards: Utilities, Healthcare

In afternoon trading on Tuesday, Utilities stocks are the worst performing sector, showing a 2.0% loss. Within the sector, FirstEnergy Corp (Symbol: FE) and Eversource Energy (Symbol: ES) are two large stocks that are lagging, showing a loss of 2.8% and 2.7%, respectively. Among utilities ETFs , one ETF following the sector is the Utilities Select Sector SPDR ETF (Symbol: XLU), which is down 2.0% on the day, and up 14.31% year-to-date. FirstEnergy Corp, meanwhile, is up 5.54% year-to-date, and Eversource Energy is up 14.70% year-to-date. Combined, FE and ES make up approximately 5.0% of the underlying holdings of XLU.

The next worst performing sector is the Healthcare sector, showing a 0.1% loss. Among large Healthcare stocks, Cooper Companies, Inc. (Symbol: COO) and McKesson Corp (Symbol: MCK) are the most notable, showing a loss of 2.1% and 2.0%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Healthcare stocks is the Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF ( XLV ), which is flat on the day in midday trading, and up 21.46% on a year-to-date basis. Cooper Companies, Inc. , meanwhile, is up 41.78% year-to-date, and McKesson Corp is up 11.71% year-to-date. Combined, COO and MCK make up approximately 1.5% of the underlying holdings of XLV.
