Tuesday 7/8 Insider Buying Report: RIVR, KFS

As the saying goes, there are many possible reasons for an insider to sell a stock, but only one reason to buy -- they expect to make money. So let's look at two noteworthy recent insider buys.

On Thursday, River Valley Bancorp ( RIVR )'s Sr VP - Retail Banking, Jennifer J. Darnold, made a $3,075 purchase of RIVR, buying 150 shares at a cost of $20.50 each. So far Darnold is in the green, up about 6.8% on their buy based on today's trading high of $21.90. River Valley Bancorp is trading off about 0.1% on the day Tuesday.

And also on Thursday, CEO Larry G. Swets Jr. bought $2,085 worth of Kingsway Financial Services ( KFS ), buying 333 shares at a cost of $6.26 a piece. Before this latest buy, Swets Jr. bought KFS on 12 other occasions during the past year, for a total cost of $47,204 at an average of $3.12 per share. Kingsway Financial Services is trading up about 0.2% on the day Tuesday. Investors are able to buy KFS at a price even lower than Swets Jr. did, with shares changing hands as low as $6.01 at last check today -- that's 4.0% under Swets Jr.'s purchase price.
