TSX Up 46 Points Mid-Afternoon After Touching New High As Healthcare Swings to Gain, Miners Extend Rally

The TSX continued its upward trend, rising 46 points in mid-afternoon trading to reach 15,490.73, after earlier hitting a new high of 15,506.09. Healthcare and mining shares were supportive of the market, with healthcare swinging to a gain and miners extending their rally.

Miners were up 1.20%, along with silver prices and Norbord (NBD.TO) shares, which have gone up 7% on the company's better-than-expected earnings. Telecom remained a significant gainer, rising 0.62%. Energy was up 0.12%, following a 0.72% increase in natural gas prices and a 0.85% jump in Talisman (TLM.TO) shares.

Info tech continued to be a significant decliner, falling 0.76%.


More than 168 million shares have changed hands so far. Amaya Gaming (AYA.TO) was the most actively traded stock.
