TSX Up 14 Points, Info Tech Leads Gainers on Blackberry Boost; Miners, Energy Lifted by Commodities

Canadian stocks were rising during the first 30 minutes of the Thursday session, with the S&P TSX Composite Index up nearly 14 points. Toronto's main stock index was lifted by info tech stocks, up 0.90%, after shares of Blackberry (BB.TO) went up nearly 2% on speculations the company might be up for sale.

Miners were 0.40% higher after gold and silver prices went up 0.01% and 0.19%, respectively. Energy stocks went up 0.22%, supported by crude oil that rose 0.69% to $107.97 a barrel.

Every major sector was in the green, except for health care and telecom that fell 0.18% and 0.18%, respectively.
