The TSX further dropped mid-afternoon, down nearly 62 points to reach 14257.37, after energy stocks turned negative. Bullish data from the U.S. showing less Americans have filed applications for jobless benefits were overshadowed by worries over China's economic slowdown and Ukraine's geopolitical crisis.

Leading sectors lower was healthcare, down 1%. Info tech followed with a 0.8% loss, weighed down by BlackBerry (BB.TO) that fell nearly 2%. Energy, which was in the positive zone at midday, slipped 0.1%, as natural gas prices tumble 2.6%. Financials and miners were off 0.7% and 0.5%, respectively.
