The TSX continued its upward trend, gaining 72 points, helped by healthcare and resource stocks. The benchmark index was at 15,189.98 in mid-afternoon trading, having touched another session high of 15,193.62.

Healthcare stocks remained the most notable advancer, up 2.39%, boosted by Tekmira Pharmaceuticals (TKM.TO) that further added to its strong gains after U.S. regulators partially lifted a hold on its experimental Ebola drug. Also, miners and energy were up 1.05% and 1.61%, respectively, tracking copper and crude oil prices . Commodities seemed to have benefited from the worsening crisis in Iraq and from upbeat Chinese trade data showing a surplus.

On the other side of the fence, info tech was down by 0.35% after narrowing its early losses. Financials slipped 0.24%, and telecom fell 0.32%.

More than 174 million shares have changed hands so far. Crocotta Energy (CTA.TO) was the most actively traded.
