TSX Adds Extra 25 Extra Pts Over Final Hour, Closes Up Nearly 100 Pts; Boosted By U.S., Europe Econ News

Toronto stocks added an extra 25 points in gains over the final 50 minutes or so of Wednesday's trade and ended the day up around 95 points, boosted by improved global economic sentiment.

In the United States, confidence among homebuilders topped economists forecasts while in Europe concerns about the region's financial health eased. An official reportedly told reporters that Greece's government could forge an agreement with private creditors by the end of this week after talks resumed in Athens today. The International Monetary Fund is proposing to raise its lending capacity by as much as US$500 billion to safeguard the economy, Bloomberg said.
