Transocean Appoints Allen Katz as Interim SVP, General Counsel; Shares Rise 2%

Transocean LTD ( RIG ) is up 2% to $45.25 after announcing Allen M. Katz as interim senior vice president and general counsel through June 30, 2013. Subject to mutual agreement, Katz's employment with RIG can be extended through December 31, 2013. Katz has served as an advisor to the company since June 2010.

Katz previously served as managing partner at Munger, Tolles & Olson, LLP, initially joining the firm in 1974. Katz is a member of the California, 9th Circuit and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court.

RIG is trading within a 52-week range of $38.21 - $59.03. Shares have fallen 5% in the last 12 months.
