Welcome to our daily roundup of top insider trades. Here's a look at the most significant inside sales and purchases filed with the SEC on Wednesday, April 17, 2013.

Purchases: At agricultural equipment company AGCO Corporation ( AGCO ), Director Mallika Srinivasan again bought stock, purchasing 50,338 shares for $2,436,359. She is also the Chairman and CEO of Chennai, India-based Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited, which is the second largest tractor manufacturer in India, the first being competitor Mahindra & Mahindra (BOM:500520). This purchase of AGCO stock marks Srinivasan's 12th since the beginning of 2013.

Sol Barer, a Director of medical device company InspireMD Inc. (NYSEAMEX:NSPR), bought 750,000 shares of company stock for $1,500,000. The company focuses on the development and commercialization of a stent platform technology called MGuard. A stent is a mesh tube that can be inserted into a natural passage of the body, such as an artery, to prevent a disease-induced, localized flow constriction; they are commonly used in the angioplasty procedure, which restores blood flow through narrow or blocked arteries. On April 16, the company announced the closing of an underwritten public offering of 12.5 million common stock shares at $2.00 per share, raising $22.6 million in net proceeds. In part, the company will use the proceeds to support the global commercialization of its MGuard stent product.

Sales: Energy drink company Monster Beverage Corporation ( MNST ) saw two insider sales: Vice Chairman and President Hilton Schlosberg sold 30,000 shares at $55.68 each for $1,682,268, and Chairman and CEO Rodney Sacks sold 30,000 shares at $55.67 each for $1,682,000. In the last month, the company's stock price has increased by 17.3%, though it is down 12.05% from this time last year.

Jeffrey Williams, the Senior Vice President of Operations at Apple ( AAPL ), sold 2,174 shares of company stock for $923,287. Williams is responsible for managing the company's huge supply chain and production process, which includes crucial oversight of Foxconn (TPE:2354). As of now, the company' stock price is $396.91, down $210 and 34.53% since this time last year. Rumors have surfaced today from AppleInsider about the iPad 5, citing a note to investors written by Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities. In the note, Kuo said, "We think the tablet will, at 7.5-8.0 mm, be 15% thinner than iPad." Kuo also believes that the device will use less battery power.

An important note from Jonathan Moreland, founder of Insider Insights :

In a victory for common sense, it has been proven profitable -- by both academic studies and (more importantly) the experience of your fellow professional investors -- to monitor the trading behavior of company executives, directors, and large shareholders in the stocks of firms of which they're registered as "insiders."

Please note, however, that the lists above are strictly factual; they are not buy and sell recommendations. Dollar value is only one metric to assess the importance of an insider transaction, and, frankly, often not even the most important metric that determines if an insider transaction is significant.

At InsiderInsights.com, we find new investment ideas just about every day using these and more intricate insider screens to determine where we should focus our subsequent fundamental and technical analysis. And while stocks don't (or shouldn't) move up or down based on insider activity alone, insiders tend to be good indicators of when real stock-moving events like earnings surprises, corporate actions, and new products may be in the offing.
