Top 10 list of unusual option activity

About halfway through today's session, here are the top 10 names showing unusual option activity on tradeMONSTER's LiveAction data system.

Fortune Brands (FO): Option volume 1,437 percent above average. The July 65 calls and August 60 puts both traded about 2,500 times against existing open interest. FO fell 1.19 percent to $63.87.

FTI Consulting (FCN): Option volume 973 percent above average. Investors purchased the September 39 calls, the September 40 calls, along with the January 30 puts, looking for movement. FCN fell 1.43 percent to $37.84.

News - B Shares (NWS): Option volume 777 percent above average. Investors bought the August 16 puts and sold the August 17 calls, positioning for downside. NWS fell 6 percent to $16.29.

International Games (IGT): Option volume 634 percent above average. More than 4,000 July 18 calls were purchased for $0.20 to $1. IGT rose 0.05 percent to $18.28.

Lender Processing Services (LPS): Option volume 512 percent above average. An existing bearish put spread in the September 25 and September 17 contracts was closed. LPS fell 1.26 percent to $19.98.

Rounding out the rest of the top 10 are:

  • iSoftStone Holdings (ISS): Option volume 388 percent above average.
  • News - A Shares (NWSA): Option volume 385 percent above average.
  • Barclays (BCS): Option volume 372 percent above average.
  • NXP Semiconductors (NXPI): Option volume 360 percent above average.
  • Mattel (MAT): Option volume 352 percent above average.
