Top 10 list of unusual option activity

About halfway through today's session, here are the top 10 names showing unusual option activity on tradeMONSTER's LiveAction data system.

FMC Technologies (FTI): Option volume 991 percent above average. A long position in 1,500 July 45 calls was rolled to the July 50 strike, netting a credit of $0.60. FTI fell 1.03 percent to $44.33.

Carter's (CRI): Option volume 959 percent above average. An investor bought 1,850 September 30 puts for $1.85 and sold and an equal number of September 25 puts for $0.40, positioning for a drop. CRI rose 1.40 percent to $31.19.

Pandora Media (P): Option volume 791 percent above average. Investors sold calls and puts, looking for the stock to stop moving. P rose 8.09 percent to $20.44.

Exeter Resources (XRA): Option volume 784 percent above average. Investors purchased about 2,500 February 5 calls for $0.65, looking for upside. XRA rose 1.20 percent to $4.23.

American Tower (AMT): Option volume 616 percent above average. Investors bought the July 52.50 calls and the August 52.50 calls, looking for upside. The October 52.50 calls were sold. AMT rose 1.57 percent to $53.15.

  • Celsion (CLSN): Option volume 604 percent above average.
  • Nasdaq OMC Group (NDAQ): Option volume 582 percent above average.
  • Cadence Pharmaceuticals (CADX): Option volume 544 percent above average.
  • Xryatex (XRTX): Option volume 522 percent above average.
  • Packaging Corp. of America (PKG): Option volume 495 percent above average.
